Practitioners use neuroplastic tools to help people heal from illness, stroke, and other medical conditions. But ALL PEOPLE use neuroplastic techniques on a daily basis whether they’re aware of it or not. The brain is constantly changing depending on your habits, routines, thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
Take a second to think about your morning routine. Do you wake up, silence your cell phone alarm… then wake up 5 minutes later agitated? Do you scroll through social media or the news while emotions of stress and urgency start berating your brain before breakfast?
You have the ability to create your own reality by using specific brain strategies. Think calm, not chaos. Instead of using negative language… as in, “I don’t like black tea because it’s not strong enough,” start to make changes to your language. Every time you use negative words like can’t, don’t, hate, bad, etc. you are strengthening the neural pathway that feeds negativity. On the contrary, positivity feeds positivity. Change your language by focusing on what you do like. Instead, say “I really love coffee because it gives me the boost of energy I need in the morning.” By placing focus on the positive rather than the negative, you are strengthening neural pathways that feed positivity, which helps you to live a happier life. Beginning to think about things like language and habits can start to really alter your perception of your life.
Create a new perspective to your current life situation. If you wake up in a state of urgency, having to get the kids ready for school, make the lunches, AND take the dog for a walk, take one minute to smile or laugh. This sends a signal to your brain that everything is OK. It causes you to go from a highly stressed out feeling to a state of ease. Laughter is an instinctive behavior that is programmed in our genes. It is proven to reduce stress hormones like epinephrine and cortisol and can release endorphins that boost immune function.
Of course, it is normal for the average person to be stressed out from time to time. However, this is not a feeling you have to experience ALL the time. We live in an emotionally and physically taxing world, but if you start to pay attention, you can make your world a brighter place.
Happy Healing to you!
